The Similarities and Differences Between the American and the French Revolution
When the system of governing a country begins to oppress the people, it is expected that
they would rise against it in an attempt to bring the changes that they need. As such, the united
states of America are not exceptions to this concept since there were revolutions that happened
regarding the two countries. The first revolution was the American Revolution in which the
colonist rebelled against the Great Britain government, therefore, forcing independence. The
revolution was characterized by small battles between the American revolutionists and the
British troops. The issue that brought about the revolution was that the Britain government was
heavily taxing the Americans, and as such, they sought to bring about change to the system.
They made a few demands while opting to stay under the rule of the British government, but it
later turned out to be a revolution which they were helped to win by the French government. On
the other hand, the French revolution was also centered around taxes that were being imposed,
especially on the peasants, and therefore, this brought about a revolution to the French system of
government. The heavy taxes were brought about by the fact that the French government
participated in the American Revolution, and therefore, they spend a lot of resources, which
nearly brought them to a state of bankruptcy. Therefore, this paper will explore the similarities
and differences between the American and French revolution.
