Personal Reflection
Psychology is a highly required course because it helps one understand people better. It
assists in understanding why and how people act and give a whole new idea on communication
and how humans relate. Knowing big large groups of people tend to think and feel is quite useful
in many aspects of the professional arena. I am taking this course as I desire to learn more about
myself and others. I will be able to gain valuable research and analytical skills that will be useful.
The study makes one become a better communicator and gets prepared for many careers. I hope
to learn the four psychology goals, such as describing, explaining, predicting, and behavioral
change.
I am more interested in studying cognitive psychology. This area of psychology helps
understand how cognitive processes occur throughout child development by observing how the
brain translates sensory inputs into perceptions. In summary, I am more interested in studying the
higher mental functions like attention, memory, language use, perception, problem-solving, and
thinking. A clinical psychologist career is most appealing to me because I aspire to be a mental
health professional. I will require high specialized training in the diagnosis and psychological
treatment of behavioral, mental, and emotional illnesses.
