Every organization has a process in which they conduct their work. To work properly, there must
be a structure between the different components in the organization and as such, sharing
information and contributes to the process. However, different organizations contain different
structures in which they perform their daily activities and therefore, bringing a difference
between the organizations. However, there are cases in which different organizations combine
efforts to work towards a similar objective which at times goes properly while at other times, it
becomes catastrophic. As such, the catastrophe is brought about by the difference in which the
particular companies conduct their business. This therefore makes it difficult to figure out the
motives in terms of each company in terms of the ethics that each one of the companies used in
the combined effort. In this case, this work will explore the ethical decision making in the deep-
water horizon disaster.
In this case, there was an explosion of hydrocarbons which happened during the construction of a
well in which British petroleum were controlling. In this case, there were a lot of elements to
look at in terms of how and why the explosion happened. It was originally thought that the whole
operation was centered around British petroleum but as it turns out, there were three companies
included with British petroleum having the most shares therefore controlling most of the
processes that were occurring in the construction of the well. Moreover, the explosion ended up
killing 11 individuals and injuring 16 other people (Brown, 2012). However, the full extent of
the effects is yet to be known since there have not been adequate research. Moreover, apart from
human life, the oil spill also affected other life forms such as marine and wildlife through the
mixture of the oil with planktons. In this context, it can be seen that other animals depend on
marine life for survival while most of the marine life depends on planktons for survival.
