BESHOY ASSIGNMENT 1
Focused Meditation
I tried spiritual meditation, focused meditation, and progressive relaxation. After trying
the various meditation methods, I chose focused meditation that I practiced for a whole week. I
chose this method of meditation because it is quite a helpful tool that can be helpful to people
who need it as stress relief; I thought that it could help me relieve the kind of anxiety that I was
going through at the time. The meditation allowed me to focus my attention on an object,
sensation, or sound instead of achieving a clear mind without any specific focal point.
Focused meditation does not require a person to reserve a significant percentage of their
time, and I discovered that I could save just a few minutes every day and engage in it. It is also a
flexible and feasible kind of meditation that can be practiced without the help of an instructor.
Focused meditation can be practiced anywhere and at any time, whereby the key to its
effectiveness lied in the environment that one chose, an environment that induces calm.
In the one week that I engaged in focused meditation, I can say that I felt utterly
transformed and renewed with rejuvenized energy. Meditation assisted me in reducing stress and
controlling the anxiety that I had. My self-awareness was also greatly enhanced, and my
attention span improved. My level of tolerance and patience also improved, and I could feel my
creativity and imagination were revitalized. By focusing on the present moment, my attention got
well cemented. In the whole process, the principles of effectiveness and co-creation were well
achieved. The overall outcome of my meditation was that, I gained a new perspective of the
stressful situations, minimized the negative emotions, gained a new perspective on stressful
situations, and assisted me in focusing on the present.
