Assignment 2: Chapter 2
Question: Describe how you’ve used the media over the last few days in these four (4)
areas: cognition, diversion, social utility, and withdrawal.
Cognition
I have been able to use the media, especially through watching local news
on TV and reading up on Facebook posts about new businesses and
companies that have moved into the San Bernardino area. I wouldn’t have
known of some of the existence of these companies or business houses if it
weren’t for me to acquire that knowledge through the media. For instance,
companies like Amazon setting up its warehouse in San Bernardino. To add
to that I have also used the media just to keep abreast with events around
the world especially with the US and North Korea’s rhetoric over war, on
CNN and other major TV news stations. Another interesting thing I did was
to check out some YouTube videos about a dish I’d like to make in my
kitchen. This particular dish, I forgot what the name was but, was something
spectacular I had in a local Italian restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga. A mix
of both chicken and spaghetti blended with roasted and crushed almonds.
Diversion
Late nights every other week-days and occasionally on weekends when I get
, a free moment to myself, I would get on the TV just to watch one of my
favorite reality shows
