The first video was talking about the Philippine’s disaster risk
reduction and management plan. In the video, it says that PDRRM has 2
objectives: (1) Risks caused by hazards and disasters should be
planned beforehand. (2) The government’s plans and actions are
important to lessen the impact of these disasters and hazards to the
community. Different sectors of the community should work together in
planning and making of the said disaster management plan for it to be
implemented well and successfully done. These sectors are namely the
Government, Private organizations, Business Organizations, Non-
government sectors and of course, the citizens. Nowadays, the NDRRMC
are also making better plans in addressing problems concerning our
not-so-well environment.

The second video tackles about the types and effects of disasters.
Disasters are defined as sudden events that leads to huge loss of life
and properties. Examples of which are earthquakes, landslides,
cyclones, tsunamis and many more. There are certainly 3 differences of
disaster namely, the nature of it, duration of it whether it is long-
term or short term and its extent of damage. I’ve also learned from
the video that there are two classifications of disaster. Natural
disasters are disasters that are caused by nature without the
interference of man while Manmade disasters obviously involves the
action of man.
VIDEO# 3
To help the increase of resilience to disasters and hazards, there are
5 ways that are commonly used by a lot of people. These are Risk
Prevention, addressing of residual risks, preparing, responding and
lastly, recovering. These steps are part of a disaster risk reduction
and management plan.

The last video is heartbreaking for me. Here in our country, it’s so
disappointing to hear news about people dying and losing their homes
because of floods and landslides and any other disasters. No matter
how many plans our government had, it’s not just enough. I think that
these happenings should be an awakening for us people to think more
deeply about long term solutions that can really help us in times of
disasters. I believe that one way to it is by taking care and
protecting our environment and nature. Our rivers, oceans, forests,
plants, and trees should be taken care of like it’s that most precious
jewel in the world. If only our bodies of water are not covered with
wastes and garbage, flooding can be lessened. If only trees were not
cut down, flooding could be minimized and more oxygen than carbon
dioxide could be floating in our atmosphere.
