Week Four Communication Plan
When trying to implement an organizational project change, there are many different
departments that must work together and have effective communication in order for the project
to succeed. There are many culprits to project failures including miscommunication, lack of
stakeholder’s engagement, and confusion among team members (Shaw, 2022). As a leader, it is
important to understand communication and the different methods of communication available;
written, oral, listening, and nonverbal and to utilize those skills as a project manager. In this
paper, I will discuss what a communication plan is and the importance of utilizing a
communication plan in project management.
A communication plan defines how information and updates are shared among the
stakeholders. In the communication plan the key stakeholders are identified, how the
stakeholders want to receive information throughout the project, and how often the stakeholder
should be communicated with (i.e., monthly, weekly, as needed). This tool is important for the
project manager to utilize throughout the duration of the project to keep track of how
communication is occurring with the stakeholders. A communication plan will notify the entire
team on what information needs to be shared and how often. Each team member will be working
on different parts of the project and will need to know what information needs to be submitted to
the project manager so that that particular information can then be shared by the project manager
to each stakeholder (Mike, 2021).
Implementing a large organizational project requires the different stakeholders to be
involved in order for the project to be adapted by the organization successfully. Stakeholders
may range from patients and family members, clinicians, administrators, community-based
leaders, and policymakers. It is important for the stakeholders to be involved in every aspect of
