Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to investigate and answer the following question, “When and
why did the URSS join into the conflict against the NAZI Germany?”, Thinking about this question
we could obtain the following hypotheses, “The rivaley between The Soviet Union and Germany
started because the nazis attacked the USSR.”
We found that our hypothesis was right, but we also found that our hypothesis included more than just
the attack and there were many other factors to get to the moment of the attack and and why would
they break the pact they had. We found as well that the atack, that can confirm the hypothesis is called
the "Operation Barbarossa", this battle was the main factor of his rivalry, because it represents the the
breaking of the non-aggression pact, between both countries, other important reason was the different
ideologies that they had, the desire for expansion and to be the most important and powerful country,
this are other factors that incited the Nazis to break the non-agression pact they had and attack the
URSS.

This research started with this question “When and why did the URSS join into the conflict against the
NAZI Germany?” After trying to answer it, we created this hypothetical answer “Their rivalry started
because the nazis attacked the USSR”The objective of this research work is to know and understand
the causes of the beginning of this rivalry, knowing the background that started the problems and
conflicts between the two parts, ending with the URSS join the conflict against the Nazis.
Some of the reasons that USSR and the nazis were in that conflict its because the Soviet Union
planned to colonize western parts of the USSR. Hitler ordered the invasion regardless of the fact that
they had a non-aggression pact that they had signed two years before and the name of the operation
was the famous Operation Barbosa on June 22, 1941. The main policy objective of Hitler’s Germany
was to conquer “life space” and was connected with conquering the USSR which was supposed to
become the “German India”. To substantiate its claims to the Soviet territory, the Nazi ideologists
developed their “race theory” and propagated the myths about the “demographic threat”. The
development of the plan for determining the fate of the USSR people resulted from their
“germanization”, deportation and destruction, which was not implemented because of the victory of
the Red Army in the Great Patriotic War .
Problem setting
This war not only produced the death of 3% of the world's inhabitants, over 6 years it destroyed an
enormous number of houses and families, forced many people to give up their homes, several children
witness the killings of their parents , produced poverty, famine, discrimination, persecution, fear. And,
as if that were not enough, after years, the war becomes responsible for several cases of diabetes and
heart problems and depression.
