Hardware, Software, and Peopleware
Hardware, software, and peopleware are the three components of a computer
system that allows it to function.
I. Hardware
Hardware is the computer parts that are tangible and can be held by the
users. The physical parts of the computer. However, this is even categorized into
five: input devices, output devices, processing devices, and memory/storage devices.
a. INPUT DEVICES are what allow the users to interact with the computer and
translate the information given by the human to what the computer
understands. Some of its common examples are mouse and keyboard.
b. Then, the PROCESSING DEVICES are the parts that transform the input data
into useful information. From the word itself, it “processes” the given bits and
converts them. These include microprocessors, GPU, CPU, motherboard,
network card, video card, and sound card.
c. On the other hand, OUTPUT DEVICES are the peripherals that receive this
information and display, project, or create a physical copy of the
information in the computer, like monitor, printer, and speaker.
d. Lastly, the MEMORY/STORAGE DEVICES allow this information to be stored
whether temporarily or permanently. Examples of primary storage devices
that are designed for temporary memory are RAM and Cache Memory, while
secondary storage devices that are for permanent data storage are hard drive,
SD card, and Blu-ray disc.
