, 1.0 Introduction
An organization’s success depends on how well the employer apply different approaches to
manage their employees. Managing employee is a great task to the employer as he has to try
to guide the employee in the daily activities in accordance with the organization’s key
objectives.
Long-term belief in management and organizational studies holds that Frederick W. Taylor
and his collaborators were antiworker advocates of employer welfare in the workplace. Adler
argues that Taylor’s approach to management was a ‘progressive step in the socialization of
the forces of production’. He suggested that it expanded workers’ contact with science,
broadened their interconnectedness, and in a great many cases enhanced their wellbeing
(Adler, 2007).
According to Wolfgang P. and Sandra E. R, ‘the revolution of industrialization led to the
birth of management approach’. This is because the new era of industrialization requires
systematic approach in the area of supervision, controlling, planning and coordination among
other things for efficient productivity from all employees (Pindur W., Sandra E., &Kim, P.,
1995).
To remain in existence in today’s evolving environment organizations are encouraged to
constantly appraise their products, services and market advantage in comparison with their
competitors and the new approaches. It has also been argued that “the mastery and functional
management of people in organizations is the vital role of human resource management”
(Schaper & Nidas, 2004).
Because of the current swift changes in the global business environment, firms must
continually strive to creatively develop in order to succeed (Coto Roberto, 2012).
Even though there are many similarities between today`s management and management in
the past centuries; globalization, learning and innovation, technological advancement and
organizational arrangement require vast management approaches than those of the classical
and human relations approaches of the past (Yacoub, 2016).
To create a unique value of an organization, application of management approaches matters
to ensure the future success of the business. Improving economic competence through
workers efficiency and optimum utilization of resources is the primary concern of classical
and human relations management approaches in order to acquire a significant organization
dependable with the wellbeing of entrepreneurs, employees and customers at large (Rahman,
2012).
