Law is a just, binding norm of behavior that is established by a lawful authority for
everyone's benefit. It regulates how people behave and act in society and may be
upheld by the enforcement of punishments. To prevent turmoil and settle
disagreements amicably and in accord, order must be upheld. Laws accept and
include the following principles: equality before the law; respect of individual
rights; duties and responsibilities of all; and sanctions for infractions. Different
governmental bodies are responsible for enforcing laws.
