debate whether it has a positive or negative impact on the environment. It is
considered to have a negative impact towards the disappearing destinations. This
discussion will help to identify the risks and opportunities as well as the long term
prospective of last-chance tourism.
According to Powell(2008), last-chance tourism can have a positive as
well as a negative impact on the environment. It can sensibilize people about climate
change but at the same time increase the rate of negative human impact. Therefore,
tourism is both impacted by and is itself a contributor to climate change in
