Econ 2P21-Midterm 1 Review Questions and Instructions
Instructions
The first midterm will take place on Thursday, October 10, at 5:00 pm in AS 215
The midterm will have 3-4 short answer questions similar to those covered in lectures, tutorials
and the midterm review. Understanding review questions is very important for doing well in the
test. The use of simple non-programming calculators is permitted during the midterm.
Note that this review is NOT exhaustive, you are responsible for all the material covered in
class, theory and examples as well as the practice in tutorials.
Meeting
In person: Both Brett and I will hold office hours prior to the midterm, the days and times are
given below:
Katerina: Monday: October 7, from 2-5pm
Tuesday: October 8, from 2-5pm
Thursday: any time starting at 11AM
Brett: Wednesday: October 9, from 12-3pm (tentative)
Online: You can also post your questions online in the Sakai Forum or send us an email.
Evaluation:
The midterm is worth 25 percent of your final mark. To ensure that you progress in learning the
course material, you have the option of having a meeting with us after the midterm to go over
and discuss the exam.
If you decide to have the meeting, the midterm mark will consist of two parts. The first part is
the evaluation of your midterm exam and it is now worth 22 percent. The second part, which is
worth 3 percent, will be based on the personal meeting after the exam to go over your midterm
and examine\evaluate your work and identify the areas in which more work is required to learn
the course material. Another reason for this meeting is for us to be able to talk and get to know
you in person.
Your other option is to keep the original mark of the midterm worth 25 percent.
The deadline for this meeting is the second midterm, so you have to come and see Brett or me
before then during office hours or tutorials. As a reminder, my regular office hours are on
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14:00 to 16:00 in Plaza 452. On Mondays I am also in my office
most of the time, so if you have a class during my office hours just drop by before or after your
class or send me an email to book an appointment (also on a different day).
