The researching has influenced everyday life of human activity during the past few decades.
Although there are many aspects of researching, the major purpose of doing research is to
help people to figure out the questions that they misdoubt or do not know and acquire
knowledge through studying, analyzing and generalizing to make conclusions or solutions
and achieving the target. Therefore, research online is an efficient tool for everyone
answering for their questions. Through that point of view, this literature review will discuss
about the online research’s benefits through different topics: shopping online, education and
online data collection. In addition, the limitation of its through: internet baking security and
authentic source of information.
With the advance of internet, online research has provided people huge benefits and
becomes a better efficient tool for doing research. One of the benefit of online research is
online shopping which becomes a vital role in the development of modern business
environment. Goods and services can be purchased at anywhere and anytime by simply one
click. Teo (2006, p.503) agreed that the information about products can be provided more
detailed and specific when shopping online comparing with the traditional shopping channels.
In addition, it is easier for customers to compare the products on shopping website or even
seek for better reasonable price of those products from other sites. Another researcher,
Smidfelt Rosqvist & Winslott Hiselius (2016) stated the great benefit of online shopping is
reduce the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission from the transportations travelled by
customers going shopping. It can be seen that online shopping has become more and more
popular because it is satisfied not only the convenience but also the enjoyment of the
customers. This trend also leads the positive effect to the environment which reduces traffic
jam and pollutant emissions from vehicles.
Furthermore, the development of the internet has driven the strong growth of many other
areas which also includes education area. Before, studying was limit in geographic feature
and participant component which mean selected students going to school and listen to the
teachers to acquire knowledge. However, with great advantages of internet, Sun, Tsai,
Finger, Chen, & Yeh (2008, p.2) believes that everybody from all levels of the society are
able to approach the education easily. E – learning (online learning) helps people can use
time efficiency and flexibility, pay low cost for their education because of the there are no
book materials and labor costs and immediately the exact information and knowledge they
are looking for. Furthermore, Chang (2016, p.476) also extended his opinion about the
combination between traditional face – to – face learning and e – learning would create a
better result. In brief, applying online learning properly will gain great benefits which is much
more than traditional way of learning.
