Ethics in Engineering
Leadership is considered an essential element in organizations and in the current period,
more focus is put on the purpose of leadership as opposed to its definition. Essentially, there is
need to consider the current changes while defining the purpose of leadership. In the current 21st
century, leaders play a major role in creating a conducive environment that encourages growth
and harmonious living with each other (Allen, Bordas, Hickman, Matusak, Sorenson &
Whitmire, 2006). Further, leaders ensure sustainability for the coming generations by promoting
harmony with nature as well as advocate for care and shared responsibility among communities.
Importantly, since leadership is a dynamic process, organizations should acknowledge that
leaders need to be anchored to advance capacity and consciousness.
Leaders often face numerous challenges in the process of organizational leadership.
However, the significant challenges that affect leaders are recognized as the major trends that
will advance capacity and consciousness among leaders. Such dynamic trends include
globalization, increasing the speed and use of improved technology, increasing stress on the
environment as well as social and scientific change (Allen et al., 2006). Human thinking
capacity largely contributes to shaping the dynamic trends. Therefore, this proves the argument
that human minds need to be anchored for the intended consciousness and human capacity. In
my opinion these trends contribute to shaping leaders thoughts and actions for the future.
Globalization
In the current 21st century, globalization, as process and ideology have dominantly
become an economic, political and cultural phenomenon. This trend is evident through the
increasing global consciousness in various sectors which has, in turn, imposed various
implication in these sectors (Allen et al., 2006). For instance, there has been a global expansion
