Flight Physiology deals with the topic of the physical effects of flight on the body. o A good working definition of Human Factors is: “the study of the relationship between aircrew and the flight environment, with the goal of optimizing the relationship between the two” o Aircrew = flight crew and cabin crew o Flight environment = flight deck, altitude, cabin, Wx, airspace, and human environment (ATC, FSS, dispatch, etc) o T / F. There are several disciplines involved in Human Factors: physiology, medicine, psychology, social-psychology, engineering, and anthropometry. o T / F. Physiology is a sub-discipline under the overall umbrella of “Human Factors” o Watch this interesting short video called “The A to Z of Flight: The Human Factor” available on You Tube at o Incapacitation or __impairment__ involves a Crew member who is incapable of performing normal flight duties.
