Topic: Impact of Sleep Deprivation on Academic Life
Nowadays, sleep deprivation is an important issue. It can be
defined as a state of sleeplessness. It is mostly observed in the
academic life of students. Although there are many dark impacts
of sleep deprivation on academic life but some of the highlighted
impacts are lack of focus, health issues and social isolation, which
leads towards frustration and then failure.
Firstly, sleep deprivation causes lack of focus. Sleep
deprived students cannot focus because they are less attentive in
their class and are lost in their thoughts. It is socially accepted
fact that the focus of a student is his most important asset. So,
lack of focus leads him towards negligence in his duties and
finally disaster.
Secondly and most importantly sleep deprivation causes
many health issues. It has a great impact on both physical and
mental health. It is a scientifically proven fact that sleep
deprivation causes anxiety and depression. It can also lead
towards memory loss. Concerning with the physical health it
weakness the immune system. It also causes weight gain, an
upset stomach, hypertension and blood pressure.
