Theorie as narrative  zo ziet Bachrach het

o Uitleg van een sociaal proces
o Nadruk op empirische test van plausibiliteit
o Zorgvuldige aandacht voor afbakening

, Bij een theorie naast WAT ook kijken naar het WAAROM en HOE. Het
wordt pas theorie als je kunt uitleggen waarom iets zo is. (Voorbeeld
vraag: waarom zijn bedrijven met meer empowerment flexibeler)

1. Constructen: deze zelf kiezen, hiermee bepaal je welk verband
je wilt onderzoeken. Constructen: zijn niet meteen
waarneembaar maar kunnen waargenomen worden door basis
observaties.
Vb. Empowerment en flexibiliteit
2. Relatie definiëren/proposities maken:
Propositie: Een abstracte, niet meteen testbaar, maar toch
logische combinatie van constructen.
VB. Hoe meer empowerment de medewerkers hebben hoe
meer flexibel de organisatie is.
3. Operationaliseerbaar maken, meten of het aanwezig is,
variabelen bepalen. VB. Wanneer is iemand empowered en
wanneer is een organisatie flexibel?
Variabelen: Een meetbare eenheid die uit twee of meer delen
bestaat.
VB: Empowerment: invloed die iemand uitoefent op
beslissingen in organisatie en hoeveelheid creatieve ideeën.
Flexibele organisatie: verloop medewerkers, RIO, creatieve
R&D output.
4. Bewering doen: hypothese opstellen.
Hypothese: specifiek statement, dat volgt na de theoretische
propositie en deze is test baar. Gebruikt variabelen die
onderzocht gekocht kunnen worden met gegevens.
VB Na mate de medewerkers meer invloed uitoefenen op de
beslissingen in de organisatie, hoe meer creatieve ideeën
worden uitgewerkt in R&D.
