PO200 Unit 8- Final Exam Short Answers
1. Name two ways in which governing as an American president with a Congress is different than governing as a British prime minister with a parliament. Be specific. Governing as an American President is different from governing as a British prime minister in various ways. In the UK they vote differently for their Prime Minister versus how we vote for President. The UK people vote for a member to be elected into parliament and then the party with the most members of Parliament vote for the Prime Minister. Whereas with the U.S, the people vote for the President. The next difference is that the U.S. President is elected for 4 years and the British Prime Minister is elected for 5 years. Also, the Prime Minister is only the head of government and the Monarch is the state head but the U.S President is head of state and government. 2. It play a role to open dialogue between the President and the American people. Cabinet is made up of the department heads of the executive branch. The cabinet is made of the heads of the 15 executive departments and the Vice President. Members of the cabinet are selected for the positions by the President. The cabinet’s role is part of the constitution that acts as advisors to the President. Executive office is a group of agencies at the center of executive branch of U.S government.
