The First International Workshop on Environmental Education drew on
the Stockholm Declaration's framework and articulated the guiding
ideals, audiences, and aims of Environmental Education. It established
the definition of Environmental Education that is now generally
acknowledged.
Our Common Future (Brundtland Report) included global solutions for
social, economic, cultural, and environmental problems. It created the
framework for and spread awareness of "sustainable development".
The World Summit on Sustainable Development (The Johannesburg
World Summit), in order to address concerns of poverty, global
inequality, and the requirement for sustainable development in all
communities, the importance of education was underlined.
The 4th International Conference on Sustainable Development
emphasised that young entrepreneurs must have access to green jobs,
according to this conference, in order for the emerging countries to
combat climate change and boost local economies.
The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, the
Sustainable Development Goals were to be negotiated and adopted by
the end of 2014, according to The Future We Want. 2016 saw the
introduction of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs
are a call to action for all nations, including those with low, middle, and
high incomes, to advance prosperity while preserving the environment.
