BIBL 410 Weekly Study Questions 2 Liberty University answers complete solutions. The Creation and Fall of Man Answer thoroughly the following questions based on this module/week’s Reading & Study material: 1. Define “evolution.” Evolution, “simply asserts that all living organisms arose from one simple, living cell.”1 (Davis, p. 73) 2. Define “theistic evolution.” Theistic evolution signifies that “that God ordered and directed the evolutionary process. He may have directly produced the first life forms, but beyond that He merely superintended the process of evolution.”2 (Davis, p. 74) 3. Is the dating of Adam important? Explain your answer. The dating of Adam is important because the biblical viewpoint interprets the biblical account of creation literally rather than parabolically or symbolically, historically rather than mythologically. This viewpoint accommodates the existence of cave men and unusual ape forms. According to evolutionary paleontologists dates Adam as one million years ago while Christian scientists generally argue for a more recent date. The Bible points to a relatively recent date, but how recent the date is, we will not know until science uncovers more conclusive evidence. (Davis, p. 75) 4. When was the origin of the “soul” in man? According to Davis, it was “Only after God breathed life into the lifeless body did it become “a living soul” (nep̱ es hayya).”3 (Davis, p. 76) 5. Explain how dust cannot be a symbol for animal life. Contrary to the premise set forth by Strong who believed that the creation of man to be was fashioned by God using “ existing material in the shape of animal forms.”4 However, dust couldn’t have been a symbolism for animal life because “it is the inanimate, inorganic material which we know as soil, or earth.”5 Thus we understand that “Dust cannot possibly be a symbol for animal life in Genesis 3:17-19 (Can animals bring forth thorns or thistles? Or do men return to animal life at death?), and there is no adequate reason for so understanding it in 2:7.”6 (Davis, p. 76) 6. Which of the six marriage principles stands out the most to you and why? 1 John J. Davis (2017). (p. 73). Paradise to Prison: Studies in Genesis. 2 IBID, p. 74 3 IBID, p. 76 4 IBID, p. 76
