Diagnosis and Staging Cancer. Diagnosing the possibility of cancer is a stressful event for patients and caregivers. Patients may undergo several days to weeks of diagnostic studies. The methods used to diagnose, and stage cancer is determined by the location and type of suspected cancer (Norris, 2020).
