Law on the Book and Law in Action in Social Injustice
We regularly encounter the law in our daily lives in renting apartments, driving cars, and
the job. Any person reading the newspaper online or opening the newspapers tend to see one or
two articles that discuss some of the legal debate over, legalization of marijuana, social
injustices, abortion or even same-sex marriage. Hence there is an interest in understanding
society's influence on the law or the influences of society's law (Chriss, 2019). People these days
are mostly interested in understanding the relationship the exist between society and the law.
Social injustice is one of the concepts in the society that is referred to as the situation where the
dominant population is usually made aware of inequality caused by other people because of their
relative position in their structure power.

injustices within the society include discrimination that can be found in healthcare services, land
use, government services and benefits, credit and lensing, public accommodations, education,
voting and even housing. These are the injustices that are punishable by law and governed by
“Laws in the book”. “Law on books” may differ from the “Law in action”, but the actions are the
once that makes the written laws acceptable and reasonable to rule on cases such as social
injustice.
“Laws on books” are hard coded that make their interpretation from while “Laws in
action” is the interpretation that o the laws by judges, defense attorney, prosecutors and law
enforcement (Clume, 2013). For example, when there is a case relating to discrimination of
disabled individuals within the job presented in court, there is the use of written interpretation of
the law that is used, but also the judges and the prosecutors use the “laws in action” to interpret
the entire case and come up actions, decisions or transaction that will be contemplated or made
