, THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MUSIC THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT of 2
The Use of the PRAXIS Framework for the evaluation of the Effectiveness of Music
Therapy in the Treatment of DFU.
Science is mostly perceived to be rigid, and creativity is more an artistic trait, and it is not
primarily used in medicine. However, innovation as a product of creativity blatantly disputes
that misconception. It is encouraged particularly in healthcare especially with regards to teams.
There are several reasons for this other than the constant fluctuation of healthcare practices
because of modernization. There is a need to ensure the preservation of the ‘human element’
which means that the tool for practice development is one which fosters teamwork and creative
problem- solving. The PRAXIS framework is arguably the best tool for critical evaluation, and it
is acclaimed in education fields (Hardy, Wilson, & Brown, 2011, p 4). When seeking
transformational change, the PRAXIS framework fosters a collaborative and all-inclusive
approach to evaluation which in turn means a broader pool of knowledge and thinking. This
often encourages creativity and yields more information. An understanding of what the
mnemonic word means further emphasizes why it is the best possible practice development tool.
The name itself is a memory tool for ease of recall of the core aspects of the framework.
Each letter of PRAXIS represents an element of the framework. When these elements interweave
and are allowed to interact through synthesis through other people through critical reviews and
constructive criticism does it engender a participatory and inclusive approach to evaluation
(Hardy, Wilson, & Brown, 2011, p 3). The P in PRAXIS represents the purpose. This is generally
the first step of evaluation using the aforementioned framework. After this is achieved, one
proceeds to the second element represented by R which is reflexivity. Reflexivity refers to the
identification of collaboratively crafted critical questions to inform, challenge assumptions,
insight, and knowledge. After the identification of a project’s purpose and reflective questions,
