This week’s unit two we are introduced to Software Requirements and Architecture. At
first it was quite a challenge to me to internalize all at once and to counter this and get to
understand all that was provided, I consulted the reading materials provided and I must say it
was so helpful and straight forward to understand everything. The glossary part played a key role
in understanding the terms used. These terms were also very key in understanding and being able
to answer the questions provided in the self-quiz.
This week I learnt something new, understanding software requirements before coming up
with a solution is key. The provided discussion question provided was very helpful to me the
discussion from other students really helped me in understanding how my fellows understood the
question you gave us. I did also learn how to create software requirement specifications and to
define functional and non-functional requirements.
From my interactions with this Course I am beginning to like it. At first I thought it was a
hard and all about coding, but I was wrong there is more in software engineering than just
coding. I am getting to understand that the whole process of software engineering is a complex
task that has steps that should be taken before the actual coding. I believe with time and further
guidance from you as my instructor I believe someday I will be a good developer applying what
I am learning to real life.
The provided assignment was quite a challenge to me but after doing my own research and
consulting the reading materials, I was able to crack the programming assignment provided.
After toiling with it for quite some time I was able to provide a solution to it. I look forward to a
more interesting and challenging part of this course.
