DECREASED Regenerative anemia,
MCHC iron deficiency, aged
blood
NON-REGENERATIVE ANEMIA
• MCHC & MCV – normocytic &
normochromic
• Reticulocyte count – no increased release
of reticulocytes
REGENERATIVE ANEMIA • Blood film morphology – uniform in size
Can be identified using the ff: & polychromatic cells are rare
CAUSES OF NON-REGENERATIVE ANEMIA
• MCHC & MCV
• Red cell cytograms • Primary bone marrow ds
• Reticulocyte count o Aplastic anemia, pure red cell
aplasia, non-regenerative IMHA,
• Blood film morphology
bone marrow neoplasia,
myelofibrosis
• Secondary to inflamm or metabolic ds
• Feline viral infections
• Nutritional deficiencies
