Romp :
- Thorax > borstkast
- Abdomen > bovenste buikholte
- Pelvis > onderste buikholte.

Thorax
Anatomische grenzen van thorax :
- Sternum
- Costae
- Vertebrae
- Diafragma
- Musculi intercostales
Organen en structuren in de thorax
- Pulmones (longen)
- Oesophagus (slokdarm)
- Trachea (luchtpijp)
- Cor (hart)
- Grote vaten (aorta, vena cava)


Thorax bied bescherming
- Hart > ligt achter het sternum
- Longen > lopen door tot boven de clavucula
Thorax kan zich vergroten en verkleinen. (door kraakbeen)
Als je inademt zakt het diafragma naar beneden, inhoud van thorax wordt groter
(Actief proces)
Als je uitademt diafragma gaat zich ontspannen, (passief proces)
Thorax foto moet bij volledige inademing gemaakt worden. De recessus moet
altijd goed zichtbaar zijn op een thorax foto.
Functie van de ribbenkast is het ondersteunen van de borstademhaling, en het
bieden van bescherminge van de organen die hier binnen liggen.

- Lateraal door de longen
- Anterior door het sternum
- Posterior door de vertebrae
