Th e Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) estimate roughly 20 million new STD infections each year (CDC, 2022) and even reported 2.4 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis during the face of the pandemic. As healthcare providers, it is our job to ensure we are doing our part in preventing sexually transmitted diseases by educating our patients on safe sex practices. After reviewing the data, the most reported STD in Pennsylvania was chlamydia. From 2000-to 2019, there were 61,628 cases reported. Most of those cases fell in the age range between 20-24 years.
