Multicultural Multicultural Principles
NSW Legislation
Amendment Guide the development & implementation of multicultural policy in NSW
Act 2014 In essence, these principles commit us & the people of NSW to:
- Share democratic values, governed by the rule of law and promote
a unified commitment to Australia
- Accept that we have diverse linguistic, religious and ancestral
backgrounds
- Create opportunities for all people to participate in all aspects of
public life
- Respect & provide for dif cultures, languages, & religions, with
English recognised as our common language
- Provide the greatest possible access to gov programs & services.
- Promote & maximise the value of our diverse cultural and linguistic
heritage to develop NSW

All Australians have the right to access health care that meets their needs.
In our culturally & linguistically diverse society, this right can only be
upheld if cultural issues are core business at every level of the health
system – systemic, organisational, professional, and individual (NHMRC
2006, pp.1).
