CPT-13306 Summary Study Guide Graded A
Communication - communication is the process by which people exchange meanings. however, communication often goes wrong: - Think of campaigns against hearing damage/ alcoholabuse, campaigns for cervical cancer vaccination for young girls, campaigns aimed at reducing manure and mineral use by farmers - does not fit/align well with the target group(s) - not executed and/or not feasible - moderate, no or even opposite effect (if a good evaluation is already taking place) - among other things due to insufficient coherence between target, target group, method or insufficient support, learning capacity and support Planning process is inspired by 'invention mapping'! 1. problem & causes (who does what and why) 2. formulate goalshierarchy for problem solving 3. methods to achieve those goals 4. combine methods in coherent program 5. plan implementation of the programme 6. create an evaluation plan Miscommunication Causes: - socio-cultural differences → worlds of experience - confusing messages, contradictory - heating with content/relation/relationship - 'richness' of the message /has to do with medium - distortion/expression (e.g. accent) - logistics/medium choice Miscommunication intent: - misinformation - don't want to understand - deception and suggestive reporting - 'interests goals' Types of communicative intervention - Persuasive communication • encourage behavioural change • e.g. campaigns, entertainment education, gaming - Informative communication
