The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast the dispositional theory
and the learning theory. It will also describe the role of personality in affecting

interpersonal relational aspects associated with the dispositional and learning theories.
Compare and Contrast Dispositional and Learning theories
Methods in which scientist could acquire an understanding of how human behavioral
development progressed has been sought after by behavioral scientists for years. Some
scientists thought that looking only at group and general behaviors and ignoring individual
behavior is wrong when looking at the individuality of people (Feist & Feist, 2009). Gordon
Allport thought individuals were unique and led the way for scientists to study this
uniqueness (Feist & Feist, 2009). Allport’s dispositional theory thought that individuals
might display like characteristics, but that they display differences in the same trait because
no two individuals are alike (Feist & Feist, 2009). According to Barenbaum (1997), he also

theory of Albert Bandura examined how each individual is a singular moral agent with the
capability of influencing his or her own lives within the concepts of the social systems (Bandura,
