The 30 Year T-shirt
Fashion designer Tom Cridland has recently launched a t-shirt with a guarantee that it would
last 30 years without showing any signs of wear or tear. Mr Cridland came up with the idea
after becoming frustrated by the poor quality of t-shirts sold by mass market retailers. He
believes it is wrong that major brands are selling clothes that are designed to wear out after
being worn a few times.
The t-shirts are made by a Portuguese manufacturer who has been making clothes for over 50
years. They are hand made using ethically sourced cotton and undergo a specialist treatment
to prevent shrinking. The workforce is highly skilled and each worker is responsible for the
entire production of each t-shirt.
Each t-shirt costs £25 and is sold and distributed through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
The t-shirt launch follows on from the success of the 30-year sweatshirt. Mr Cridland admits that he
has been surprised by the rapid growth of his business and that ‘sales have now moved on to a
level that I can barely handle’.
