▪ B - Breathing - Intervene quickly
▪ C - Circulation - assess and address
▪ D - Disability - neurological status, spinal cord status,
▪ E - Exposure - remove clothing and looking for any other injuries
▪ F - full set of vitals - reassess continually
▪ G - Give comfort measures - once neurological status and vitals are obtained and
assessed we can give meds (want baseline)
▪ H - history and head to toe - what meds are they on? Underlying diagnosis,
▪ I - inspect posterior surface - turn to check spinal column, lower extremities,
look for any injuries we may have missed
o Secondary Survey
▪ Comprehensive head-to-toe assessment
▪ Identifies other injuries/issues that must be managed or may impact course of
