FNP 590 CARINE JEAN BAPTISTE REFLECTIVE EXERCISE 1) What does Craigie describe as the relationship between spirit and life? What are your thoughts? Do you have an experience to share pertaining to this description? Craigie describes the relationship between spirit and life as spirit is the inner feeling that one must connect with to feel alive, to feel complete. It took me some times in my younger years to realized that the feeling of being tired and drained that I used to constantly experince was connected to me being distant to my spiritual life. It took me a while to learn the difference being religious and spiritual and once I was able to make that difference I was so much relieved. Setting time aside to meditate, to connect with my inner spiritual self brings me inner peace, feeling refreshed and alive. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I know that waking up extra early before everyone in my house so I can meditate without any distraction will change my stress into calm and I will feel renewed and full of life. 2) How is spirituality defined? Craigie (2010) explained that spirituality does not have a universal definition. It is a personal feeling; it has to be experienced to understand it; being spiritual is not the same as being religious; and it best explained by giving an account (pp. 47-48). I would defined spirituality as knowing that there is a greater force in the universe that give us a purpose in life and that give us a sense of identity in the world. 3) What are the components of the CAMPS framework? The framework CAMPS developed by Craigie (2010) means: Community (C) which explaineda As human being we long for interaction with others; we genuinely appreciate fellowship. Activities (A) which refers to the activities we do where we gain a well-being feeling. Meaning and purpose (M) is the search for answers that we all experience. Passions (P) are the experience of joy, excitement and feeling content at a particular time in life. Relationships with the Spirit (S) which is the connection with a divine power (pp. 33-45). 4) What are your thoughts and experiences with the components of the CAMPS framework? This framework is new to me. The creator did a great job with developing the components of this framework to give the readers a simplified understanding of the concept of spirituality. Reflecting on these components made me realize how they are indeed true pillars of spirituality. In my opinion, emotion in general should be part of this framework instead of passion specifically because just as experiencing joy brings on an aspect of spirituality, being sad can also help define spirituality. 5) What does Craigie say about the "why" of suffering? Craigies (2010) suggest that “suffering is because a misfortune challenges any of the personal dimensions that define and give life to who we are” (p. 47). The author believes that any malfunction in any of the components of the CAMPS framework will compromise “what is held sacred”. Reference
