engineering field, manual skills have continued to decline in popularity, usage, and prevalence.
Modern engineers prefer working technologically and possessing technology-based skills like
operating machines digitally, instructing robotics digitally, and executing their tasks with the
help of modern technology. Due to the technological advancements and the efficiency brought
by technology, the engineering field has significantly evolved, with modern engineers preferring
technology-based skills to manual skills, which has contributed significantly to the decline in the
usage and preference of manual skills in the field of engineering. Students in the modern era of
technology are so obsessed with technology, and they barely possess any manual skills; they can
barely perform crucial engineering tasks manually without the help of modern technology.
Despite the prevalence of technology and the evolution it has caused in the engineering field,
manual skills are still important, and students must be taught the manual skills of engineering
and avoid overreliance on technology. This study highlights the importance of manual skills in
engineering and why modern engineering students must be taught manual skills by critically
discussing why manual skills are still essential in the modern era of technology in the field of
engineering.
