PRESENTING SYMPTOMS :
 FATIGUE
 Dyspnea
 Palpitation
 Headache
 Tinnitus
 Anorexia
 Dyspepsia
 Bowel disturbances
 Angina ( if previous coronary artery disease )


Signs : ( MAY BE ABSENT _)

 PALLOR
 Retinal heamorrhage
 Hyperdynamic ( increased cardiac output )
 Murmurs & cardiac enlargement
 Heart failure may occur
 Increased respiratory rate & depth

,  Behavioural changes such as slow & economic
movement
 Koilonchia ( spoon shaped nails )
 Angular stomatitis
 Atrophic glossitis
 Brittle hair
 Glossitis & dysphagia
 Atrophic gastritis


The development of the symptoms depends on the
swverity speed of onset adequency of compensation
mechanism age ( elderly have impaired
compensation )
