ANOMALIES OF TESTIS
1. GONADAL DYSGENESIS:
• no testis development (AGENESIS)
• due to failure of migration of primordial germ cells to genital ridge.
2- Undescended testis (cryptorchism):
– testis fails to reach scrotum, due to incomplete descent along normal course.
– Incidence : In 3-5 % of full term males In 30% of premature males
– Cause : androgen deficiency.
– Complications : **sterility if bilateral
** Cancer in 20-40%
– testis remains
1. abdominal (at deep inguinal ring) (common site)
2. inguinal ( within inguinal canal)
3. suprascrotal (at superficial inguinal ring
