NUR 130 Guided Reflection Questions
Opening Questions
How did the simulated experience of Sara Lin’s case make you feel?
Overall I think this has been the most successful vsim I have done yet. I didn’t really have any
problems and now that I have an idea of what to do better after doing so many of these I think it
went smooth.
Talk about what went well in the scenario.
I think overall the whole simulation went well. I did administer pain medications for her
and educate her on wound care and the need for incentive spirometer.
Reflecting on Sara Lin’s case, were there any actions you would do differently if you were to repeat this
scenario? If so, how would your patient care change?
I probably would of administered the medication more smoothly rather than sporadically.
Scenario Analysis Questions𝗌
EBP/S What priority problem(s) did you identify for Sara Lin?
Pain management, wound care, and post-op incentive spirometer teaching.
EBP/S What should be included in Sara Lin’s education plan to assist with her pain control?
Definitely education on each drug given, how to get the pain under control, the caution
with oxycodone and encouraging taking the acetaminophen, also to look for signs and symptoms of
any adverse effects of the medications.
EBP/S What should be included in Sara Lin’s education plan related to postoperative incision care?
She would need education on wound care, signs and symptoms of infection, the need for
the dressing and contacting her doctor for any changes.
PCC/I In addition to the above education on pain management and incision care, what
discharge teaching should be included specific to home antibiotic therapy
(levofloxacin/Levaquin)?
