1.0 Overview
The Business Impact Analysis (BIA), was developed as a form of contingency plan for
Omega Company. It was prepared on March 28th 2016. The purpose of the Analysis is to give the
company a complete overview of the possible disasters that are to happen should there be such a
glitch. Apart from informing of the losses occurred, the analysis also helps in coming up with
viable solutions on how to minimize & mitigate such risks for future purposes. With the
available information of Omega Company, I will be able to provide a detailed determination of
the processes that need enhancement.
1.1 Purpose
The sole purpose that BIA serves is to prioritize & identify system components. This is
through correlating the system components to the business process that the system is able to
support, & after obtaining such information, it tries to draw the impact that would happen if such
systems were to lack(Johri, 2010). Omega problem is that it has not been able to restore their
back up data, & it lacks a comprehensive plan, which would help it in improving its future
recovery posture. Through the BIA, I will be able to point out the system functions & networks
that would likely to be affected if such were to happen. Moreover, the information will help in
deploying the best action plan that would be needed in relation to all prioritized functions of the
Company. Given the huge networking forum that Omega utilizes, there are a number of system
functions prone to such perils &, therefore, I will rate the criticality of the event using the (High,
Low) scale.
2.0 System Description
Omega Research has their main branch in Reston, VA. Furthermore, there are also three
other branches located in Kansas City, San Diego & Salem. Omega has not yet ventured in
business to business relations nor any form of e-commerce. It deals with offering both
consultancy & research(Hiles, 2002). The company has marketed itself as service based. Most of
its revenue are from deposits, which the company is then able to fund clients. Most of the
requests are h&led through physical contact & phone calls. Balancing of books, & having a
direct & responsive link between clients & the service providers plays an integral part.
