Basic Concepts of anatomy
1. Gross Anatomy (Macroscopic):
This is the study of body structures visible to the naked eye.
Two ways to study the gross anatomy:
1. Systemic anatomy: The study of the body structures as they are present in
individual systems e.g. cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system etc.
2. Regional anatomy: The study of all structures (blood vessels, nerves, muscles)
located in a particular region of the body, e.g. 1. upper limb, 2. lower limb, 3.
head and neck, 4. thorax, abdomen and pelvis and 5. brain and spinal cord.
