NOTES AND SUMMARY

- The first signs of life appeared quite early in the history of our planet.

Plants, like all other living species, have a vast history that has been marked by evolution, or

change, over the course of their existence.

About 4.6 billion years have passed since the formation of the planet Earth, which was an

accumulation of dust and gases that occurred during Earth's orbit around the sun

. It is hypothesised that the planet Earth was subjected to a meteor shower that caused

widespread destruction and lasted between 3.8 and 3.9 billion years ago.

- Huge amounts of debris crashed into the planet, which contributed to the planet's

continued heating.

- As the once molten Earth began to cool, tremendous storms raged, followed by lightning

and the release of electrical energy.

- At the same time, extensive volcanism blasted molten rock and boiling water from

beneath the surface of the Earth. Rocks in Western Australia, which are around 3.5

billion years old, contain the world's earliest known fossils

- These microfossils are made up of numerous different kinds of small, filamentous

creatures that are not overly complicated and resemble bacteria.

- Ancient stromatolites are fossilised microbial mats that consist of layers of filamentous

and other microorganisms as well as silt that was caught between the layers. They are

roughly the same age as these microfossils.

, - A few locations in the world's oceans, such as the warm, shallow waters off the coasts of

Australia and the Bahamas, continue to support the formation of stromatolites even in

modern times

- Scientists came to the conclusion that the ancient stromatolites were generated by

comparable filamentous bacteria after comparing them to modern stromatolites, which

are formed by cyanobacteria (filamentous photosynthetic bacteria). This was done by

comparing old stromatolites to modern ones.

- It is debatable as to whether or not life began on Earth or whether it was brought here

from another planet in the form of spores, which are resistant reproductive cells, or by

some other method.

- It's possible that life began on Mars, for example, because its early history was very

similar to that of Earth.

- Strong evidence, which was initially discovered by the Opportunity rover in 2004,

revealed that water previously flowed over the planet, which raised the potential that at

one point, Mars could have sustained life. This was first identified in 2004. (Figure 1–3).

The year 2008 saw the Phoenix.

- Mars 1–1 Existence here on Earth According to our best knowledge, there is only life on

one of the nine planets that make up our solar system. Earth is clearly distinguishable

from the other planets in the solar system.

- It gives off the impression of being blue and green, and it has a faint sheen to it. The blue

colour represents water, the green colour represents chlorophyll, and the shine represents

sunlight that has been reflected off of the layer of gases that surrounds the surface of the

planet.
