Explanation of the title:
‘Go ask Alice’. In this book Alice is the main character, Alice is not her real name but
a name that was given to her. She wants to be a social worker and help people with
their drug problem. Go ask Alice means that you can go ask Alice if you have a
problem.

Biographical information of the writer:
The writer is anonymous, but the book is a diary. In the book Alice is the one who is
writing the diary, but it isn’t her real name. Because there are no real names I don’t
have any information about the writer.

Themes:
Drugs and friendship.
The whole diary is about Alice who takes drugs, gets clean and then relapses again.
She makes a lot of new friends when she moves to another city and reunites with her
childhood friend.

Setting:
The story takes place in the western part of America, I don’t know where exactly the
story takes place since they don’t mention any of the towns they lived in. The story
takes place in 1960.
