Wisely”.
In the article, “Using Forests Wisely”, It discusses how trees are being cut down at an alarming rate. This
is especially threatening considering how many organisms depend on the forests of the world. For
example, trees supply humans with oxygen so we can breathe. Forests are also home to four-fifths of all
land species.
2. What social issues affected the problem or its solution in the article “using Forests Wisely”
Trees supply paper, and if we continue to cut down trees the demand for paper will increase as less trees
remain. Many companies and businesses use paper and if the demand for paper rises so will the cost,
this can upset many businesses.
3. How did economics delay scientists first attempts for conservation in the article “Using Forests
Wisely”
If we stop cutting own trees we will loose access to many everyday materials. Trees provide us with
wood which we use to make many houses, tables, chairs and other furniture’s. We also use trees to
make paper which many schools and businesses use. Trees are also often cut down to make room for
new construction and urbanization.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is helping certify certain timber and wood-based products. These
products must meet certain environmental and social standards such as replacing trees that have been
