Objectives(s):
In your own words, what is the purpose of this lab?
The purpose of this lab is to analyze the absorption patterns produced by newly
discovered moons and planets.
Hypothesis:
Moon One: lithium and carbon Moon Two: sodium and nitrogen Planet One: hydrogen
and carbon Planet Two: helium and carbon
Procedure:
The materials and procedures are listed in your virtual lab. You do not need to repeat them
here. However, you should note if you experienced any errors or other factors that might
affect your outcome. Using your summary questions at the end of your virtual lab activity,
please clearly define the dependent and independent variables of the experiment.
There were no errors. My hypothesis was correct. The independent variable is the
astronomical object viewed by the spectrometer. The dependent variable The
spectrum of each astronomical object.
Data:
Record the elements present in each unknown astronomical object. Be sure to indicate
“yes” or “no” for each element.
