Navy Fighter Aircraft
In the scenario, the tail hook systems on the new-delivered aircraft are not reliable.
The systems failed to connect to the arresting barrier several times causing near
catastrophic accidents. Moreover, the Navy has decided to refused delivery of any aircraft
until the tail hook system was improved. Apparently, it was a critical problem for the
aircraft manufacturer, since the failure of the tail hook system can not only be a great loss
of revenue but also can damage the manufacturer’s reputation. Irrefutably, there were
definitely some issues in the project management and the project manager needs to solve
these problems.
What would be the project manager’s most important concern in balancing time,
quality, and cost? Explain why.
Jason (2018) stated that the project management triangle includes three aspects
“cost”, “quality (scope)” and “time”. In the first place, “cost” means the financial
constraints of a project, also known as the project budget (Jason, 2018). In the second
place, the “quality” indicates the tasks required to fulfill the project’s goals (Jason, 2018).
In the third place, the “time” means the schedule for the project to reach completion
(Jason, 2018). In the scenario, I believe the project manager should concern more in the
“quality”. That is, the project team should focus on resolving the problem of the tail hook
