2 settings - Minimum number of places to consult: with school, parents, day care to determine ADHD 2/5/6 - ADHD must be present in # of settings #symptoms in adults; # symptoms in those under 16 5-HTTLPR gene - Serotonin Transporter gene linked to ADHD 7 - Months to impact grey/white matter in brain of adolescents who drink - neuroplasticity 9 - screen for drugs and alcohol by this age 12 - Age by which ADHD sx's must be present 17,16,15,15 - Mild: BMI greater than or equal to 17 Moderate: BMI 16-16.99 Severe: BMI 15-15.99 Extreme: BMI less than 15 50 - Percent of high schoolers who have tried marijuana 67 - Percent of 12th graders who have used alcohol ADHD - display increased slow wave encephalograms, reduced total brain volume on MRI, and possible delay in posterior to anterior cortical maturation; ADHD - Essential feature: A persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivityimpulsivity, which interferes with functioning or development; ADHD - most frequent neurocognitive disorder that originates in childhood ADHD associated symptoms - - mild delays in language, motor, or social development; -Low frustration threshold, irritability, or mood lability; -academic or work performance is often impaired; -By early adulthood, suicide risk is increased for those with co-occurring mood disorder; -Higher incidence of substance use. ADHD comorbidities - Sleep problems ODD; Conduct D/O Disruptive mood dysregulation d/o Learning disorders
