Action research - systematic study usually on a small scale that investigates the impact of a specific activity that is carried out as part of a normal work role. Action research is particularly practiced in education and in health and social care contexts. Aim - an overall goal or target to be achieved and it should relate to a defined purpose Anonymity - ensuring that any data associated with an individual collected for research purposes is documented and stored in such a way that it cannot be traced back to the individual by name. arguments - contrasting lines of reasoning that are synthesised systematically to develop a conclusion Average - a measure of a usual, common amount or rate, a norm. Bibliography - a list of published sources relevant to a topic that have been read to increase knowledge and understanding but which are not necessarily specifically referred to in an essay or research paper citation - the process of quoting evidence from other sources Closed question - requires the respondent to select a response from a given menu of possible answer options. Code of practice - written statements that set out how members of a particular profession should conduct themselves. Collation - the process of systematically organizing data from research, in preparation for analysis and evaluation of the data
