Traditional Medicine Is More Effective Than Modern
Medicine
Human health concerns and treatment could be considered a timeless issue since,
regardless of how much time passes, people always seem to require medication for one ailment
or another (Oyebode et al. 985). This remains the case regardless of the numerous changes in
ailments that affect these people. However, as time passes, scientists have continued searching
for new and improved ways to treat different ailments based on the additional information they
have obtained about them. This has resulted in the creation of modern medicine, also referred to
as pharmaceutical treatment, used alongside traditional medicine. Naturally, as time passes,
people are prone to be exposed to more diseases which in most cases is attributed to the fact that
they interact more often and have developed weaker immune systems owing to their lifestyles
(Oyebode et al. 990). For this reason, the application of medicine to restore their health now
holds more importance than it did in the past. However, research illustrates that traditional
medicine is more effective than modern medicine in restoring human health and holistic well-

people have had to share their beliefs, cultures, and experiences, thus creating an amalgamation
of cultures that have, over time, become more streamlined and holistic (Yuan et al. 559). Part of
the knowledge shared by these different communities and cultures pertains to traditional
medicine. As each community shared how it treats different ailments, a consensus was reached
on the most effective remedies. Traditional medicine thus refers to a comprehensive
accumulation of skills and knowledge from different cultures and experiences, resulting in a
holistic approach to health that focuses mainly on preventing rather than curing the same disease.
This could be considered one of the main reasons traditional medicine is better than modern
medicine. The fact that these communities have tried and tested their remedies over a long time
further adds to the confidence expressed in traditional medicine (Oyebode et al. 985). However,
there are specific reasons why traditional medicine is considered better than modern medicine,
which will be illustrated below.
