Session- Thermo luminescent dosimeter (TLD)
Construction:-
TLD are used as personnel monitoring device.
Based on phenomenon of thermo luminescence; emission of light by certain
materials when they are heated after radiation exposure.
It is used to measure individual dose from x, beta and gamma radiations.
It consists of plastic cassette in which a nickel coated Al card is placed.

TLD card:
Consists of 3 CaSO4: Dy Teflon disc which are mechanically clipped over
three symmetrical circular holes each on a nickel plated Al card.
V cut is provided at one end of the card that ensures fixed orientation.
Card is enclosed by paper wrapper in which user’s personnel data is written.
TLD discs along with the card are sealed in a thin plastic pouch.
