Chapter 10 Objectives
1. Discuss the ethics of workplace romance
a. When two daters occupy the same work space, the ramifications for their love
affair failing are substantially more significant. Because these two people must be
around each other, even if the relationship fails to flourish, they can’t simply retire
to their separate corners the way many couples do post break-up. This can lead to
nasty office confrontations or office gossip as coworkers take sides in the
romance-fueled feud between the two.
2. Explain why concern for wildlife is a strategic issue for firms
a. Environmental Law is a complex combination of state, federal, and international
treaty law pertaining to issues of concern to the environment and protecting
natural resources. For example, environmental laws often relate to issues such as
pollution of soil, air, or water; global warming; and depletion of oil, coal, and
clean water.
3. Explain why good ethics is good business in strategic management
a. Ethical business practices include assuring that the highest legal and moral
standards are observed in your relationships with the people in your business
community. A reputation for ethical decisions builds trust in your business among
customers, business associates and suppliers
4. Explain how firms can best ensure that their code of business ethics guides decision
making instead of being ignored
